 Cabernet Franc



Cabernet Franc is a magnificent Bordeaux and Loire Valley grape, often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as in great Bordeaux wines. On its own yields a medium bodied wine that can have great complexity and depth.


One of six wines permitted in Bordeaux blends. A cousin to Cabernet Sauvignon, it is one of the more winter hardy of the vinifera. It can be a vigorous variety with mid season budding and late ripening. Flavor profile is fruity and vegetal.


Clone #1 - Ripens late, vigorous clone. Has the longest history in the east, producing consistantly quality wines.

Clone #332 (FPS clone 4)- When yields are controlled, good results can be obtained. Full, well balanced and aromatic wines. Slightly less vigorous than clone 1
