A natural cross of Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc making it a sibling grape to Chardonnay. Is also the parent grape to Florental, Galotta, Gamaret, Garanoir, Mara, and Regner

Viticulture Characteristics

Early budding and ripening; high yielding; susceptible to sunburn, botrytis, and phomopsis

Wine Characteristics

Best known as the grape of Beaujolais Nouveau and carbonic maceration; wines are light and fruity with flavors of banana and bubble-gum. When aged in oak, peppery with red fruit.
