Viticulture Characteristics

Early budding and ripening - but buds out later and ripens earlier than Pinot Noir. Favors colder climates and rich clay soils.

Wine Characteristics

Famously used as a blending grape in Champagne, single varietals are more fruity than Pinot Noir, however they do not age as well.
